American Eagle in Sag Harbor, New York
This was the planned itinerary for the cruise:
Extremely windy conditions at sea forced a slight change to the itinerary.
We had to skip Port Jefferson, and change the order that we visited the next few
cities.
I flew in to New York City a few days before the cruise so that I would have
some time to explore.
I stayed in a fantastic high-rise hotel in Manhattan, the Residence Inn.
My room on the 49th floor had an awesome view!
I spent hours exploring Central
Park in New York City, and I loved it!
It was so much bigger and better than I realized, and it was only three blocks
from my hotel.
My favorite place we visited was
Essex, Connecticut. It's a very small town on the Connecticut River.
It was so peaceful there!
Newport, Rhode Island was also
very interesting to me.
I flew my drone out to this little island to get some photos and videos of the
lighthouse.
Note the two kids playing in the yard. So, I
guess a family lives there.
Here's a photo of the ship docked in
Plymouth, Massachusetts.
Since my cabin was on the right side of the ship, I had a great view of all the
boats in the harbor.
There's a lot going on in this
next picture. It captures a little slice of cruise ship life.
Deck hands are tying the ship up to the dock, as the captain watches from just
outside the pilothouse.
A couple of passengers are enjoying watching everything from a viewing deck at
the bow.
Lots of other passengers are watching from their balconies.
The craziest sunset I've seen in
a long time happened while we were in Plymouth!
The next night, a much less
dramatic sunset, but I appreciated it as I watched it from this daybed.
While we were in Essex, I got to
go sailing on a re-creation of a type of sailboat that was used in the 1600s.
I shared it with five other guests and four crew members!
They had a fantastic bunch of
crew members on this ship!
Kalei, the girl on the right, is one of my favorite ACL employees. I've
sailed with her three times.
The first time she was a server in the restaurant. The second and third
times she was the guest services coordinator.
At the end of this cruise, she informed me that she's training to become the
manager of the ship's restaurant.
The still photos I shot were
nice, but you should see the YouTube video I made about this cruise!

Need A Travel Agent?
Booking a cruise can be confusing, especially if you haven't been on many cruises before. There are lots of first-time cruiser mistakes that a travel agent can keep you from making. Also, the call centers of some of the big cruise lines are severely understaffed these days... creating extremely long wait times to talk to a customer service representative. When you book a cruise through a travel agent, you'll never have to get stuck on hold with the cruise line... your travel agent does all that kind of stuff for you.
If you're interested in booking a cruise with any cruise line... please feel free to use the services of my travel agent, Caitlin Gallagher. She's extremely pleasant to deal with, easy to talk to since she lives in the United States and speaks without any kind of an accent, and quite experienced and knowledgeable about different types of cruising. Caitlin is the owner of Ambren Travel. Visit her web site, check out the Ambren Travel Facebook page, or contact her using the information below.
